Hospitality can change lives, but inequities in pay, progression, and workplace experience continue to limit potential and weaken the sector. Better Hospitality from Be Inclusive Hospitality aims to address this, with a particular focus on race and ethnicity.
Better Hospitality gives employers the insight, tools, and collective leadership needed to build inclusive hospitality workplaces that elevate talent and strengthen organisational performance. By uniting research, industry expertise, and practical standards, it provides a clear route to a fairer, stronger hospitality industry.
Equity & Progression Standards
The insight gathered from the survey will inform a practical set of Equity & Progression Standards for employers, developed by a diverse Leadership Group of senior industry leaders and published, alongside the research findings, in a landmark report this September.
The campaign brings together three core elements:
Sector-Wide Survey
looking at pay,

of senior hospitality employers who will translate the findings into practical, commercially grounded Equity & Progression Standards.

launching in September, combining the research, the standards, and guidance for employers.

The survey is now live, and everyone working in hospitality is encouraged to contribute. The survey explores pay disparities, career pathways, and progression barriers across hospitality.
Equity & Progression Standards

Leadership Group
The Better Hospitality Leadership Group brings together influential hospitality leaders and employers who are committed to measurable change in equity and progression, and a stronger, more sustainable hospitality industry.
The Leadership Group will define the Equity & Progression Standards, ensuring they are practical, commercially grounded, and adoptable by employers of all sizes.
The Standards will be informed by the Group’s expertise and the findings of the research, providing employers with clear expectations, accountability and support to build equitable workplaces.
