Total number of years spent within Hospitality?
17 years
What do you most enjoy about this industry?
The people. They are some of the bravest and most ridiculous people I’ve ever met who more often than not, have incredible spirits and sense of comradery.
What does a typical day look like for you?
There are two types of days for me. I have a home office so the days spent there are glued to the computer catching up on emails and making sure the business is actually functioning and work is being done. The other kind of day can take me all over London meeting with clients, maintaining media relationships (which means journalist lunches or dinners), attending industry events, or working side by side with clients at their place of work.
Tell us something we might not know about the sector?
Communication is vital to any business, whatever guise it takes e.g. traditional, social media, or word of mouth - it is key! PR is not a magic wand and consumers are more intelligent than you think.
What has been the single most important piece of advice given to you?
Don’t believe your own bullsh*t.
Three dinner guests of your choice?
Really, I’d have my three girlfriends for that deep belly laughter, but for the sake of the interview and mind expansion: Audre Lorde, Betty Davis, Grace Jones.
Last documentary watched and book read?
The last book was 'The Water Dancer' by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Finish the sentence, the future in hospitality is…….
Pure imagination. (Like Willy Wonka)
