Total years spent within the industry?
6 years

What do you most enjoy about this industry?
My mentor once said to me, that restaurants are not just about food, it is creating a place in the community where people come together. This is what I love about hospitality, and why I wanted to get involved. I wanted to create a place that people felt comfortable, safe and in some way connected to our identify. A restaurants is a nucleus of connections, and becomes part of the fabric of many personal stories including proposals and birthdays. It is for this reason the name of the restaurant is super powerful, as it is a part of me. A talking drum is a west African drum, each having a different pitch, and was used to communicate from village to village and during slavery.
